This may seem like an innocuous enough picture of my bff’s little brother’s bff drinking from a bottle of wine in Washington, DC—and it is—but its origins tell such a story.
This picture started out as an exposure on a disposable camera sitting on a shelf in a Duane Reade a few blocks from Penn Station in downtown Manhattan. (Although I suppose it actually started off way before that in some Kodak factory..) The picture sat in a purse during a long and harrowing journey to the University of Maryland and later to D.C. This particular shot was snapped in popular DIY venue Subterranean A by me sometime in between sets by La Big Vic and Moss of Aura.
The disposable camera made the long journey back, and then some, to a Target store in Colonie, NY where I cracked the sucker—and its twin brother—scooped out the film, and developed it myself using scary looking Kodak machinery. I helped myself to a Target Photo CD, saved the pictures there and then uploaded them to mediafire for my aforementioned bff. And so now, a month later, the lil exposure has made its way onto tumblr and the interwebs at large.
The moral I suppose is that when you stop and think about random, little simple things in modern life, (even supposedly archaic things like disposable cameras) you realize that they really are kind of amazing.
